Enchanted since childhood by the magical world of puppet make-believe, my love for these adorable and versatile characters has never abated, and during a lengthy career in nursing and education there were many times when I thought how invaluable they could be. Instinct told me that children, sometimes with a diverse range of complex needs, couldn’t fail to benefit if introduced to a new ‘best friend’ - a puppet who would always be greeted with a smile and soon given its own individual name and personality! With a little guidance, every child has the ability to bring a puppet to life, and in doing so can find a means of expression through fun-filled interactive role play.
When the opportunity arose I set out to fulfil my dream of introducing puppets to a wider audience than my husband and two sons, who have no choice but to share my enthusiasm for the range of little characters that are part of our world! As a family we now run our expanding online business Puppets for Education, helping bring puppets to life for hundreds of delighted customers who perhaps hadn’t previously appreciated just how captivating and beneficial they can be.
